Workshop templates and suggested formats

Once the client has chosen the subject matter and topic combination, I will help craft the description for the seminar, workshop, or webinar.

Here are some examples,

Below are concise 30–45 minute workshop descriptions for each new topic (hernias, ingrowing toenails, varicose veins, thyroid health). Each contains: a short title, recommended length, learning objectives, target audience, and a suggested format with timing and interactive elements. You can paste these into your booking portal or use them as briefing notes for facilitators.

Hands on Stomach

Hernias — Types, Symptoms, When to Refer, and Workplace Guidance

Suggested length: 30–45 minutes

Workshop overview: A practical primer on common abdominal wall hernias (inguinal, femoral, umbilical, ventral), how they present, red flags for emergency referral, treatment options (conservative vs surgical, open vs laparoscopic), and advice on work, fitness and post-operative recovery.

Learning objectives:

  1. Identify the common types of hernia and their typical clinical features.

  2. Recognise signs of incarceration/strangulation that require urgent assessment.

  3. Understand indications for surgical repair and the main differences between open and minimally invasive approaches.

  4. Advise employees on workplace adjustments, return-to-work timelines, and prevention strategies (lifting technique, core strengthening, weight management).

Target audience: HR teams, occupational health professionals, line managers, workforce wellbeing coordinators, staff in physically demanding roles, and general employees interested in musculoskeletal/abdominal health.

Suggested format & timing (35–40 minutes):

  • 0–5 min: Welcome, objectives, and quick pre-session poll (e.g., “Have you or a colleague had a hernia?”)

  • 5–15 min: Short clinical primer — types, causes and symptoms (with simple diagrams or photos)

  • 15–25 min: Red flags, investigations, and treatment options (open vs laparoscopic, use of mesh, risks/benefits)

  • 25–32 min: Workplace & recovery guidance — practical return-to-work timelines, ergonomic advice, fitness & prevention tips

  • 32–40 min: Q&A and case vignettes (interactive — attendees choose management from options)
