Dr. Donald Greig
Dr. Donald Greig, a General Surgeon, has been in Hong Kong private practice for over 26 years. Prior to his practice in Hong Kong, he had undergone his surgical training in both open and laparoscopic techniques in Edinburgh, Scotland for 10 years as a research fellow, senior trainee, senior university lecturer and a consultant surgeon.
Dr. Greig is an accomplished public speaker, educator, researcher and writer with almost 200 book, book chapters, scientific papers, an MD Thesis, letters, reports, informative patient focused commentaries and news letters to his name. He has presented at many international, national and local scientific and educational meetings.
In 1990, he was attached to University Department of Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital Hong Kong for 1 year as a visiting lecturer. He returned to Hong Kong, a place he now regards as home, on a permanent basis in 1998 to work as a surgical specialist in a large private practice (QHMS).
In 2002, Dr. Greig, along with several of his colleagues established Hong Kong Surgical Specialists in Jardine House, a multidisciplinary practice of surgical and anaesthetic specialists, and physiotherapists. Following a major renovation of the practice in 2024, we have rebranded ourselves at The New Clinic [Jardine House]:

His approach to patient care is that of dealing with the primary referral problem, then taking a holistic view of each patient’s overall health. He has been proactive in patient education, provision of health information, vaccinations and the institution of wellness programs for dealing with both mental and physical well-being. He actively incorporates his well-being programs into every day clinical practice with proven platforms for the prevention of significant illness such as colon and oesophageal cancer; the early detection of breast, prostate and skin cancer; complimented by medical interventions to define, manage and treat common medical illnesses such as elevated lipids, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.
Programs
Well-being programs implemented in action and practice focus on actively engaging participants in activities and strategies designed to improve their mental, physical, and emotional health. These programs prioritize hands-on experiences, practical exercises, and real-world applications to enhance overall well-being. By doing so, they effectively translate theoretical principles of health and wellness into tangible, everyday practices, thereby fostering a supportive environment for personal and communal growth.
Through running TED style talks with interactive workshops, he would like individuals, families, communities, institutions, and employers to initiate the conversation about wellbeing and implement programs that will hopefully improve the lives of many by empowering them with some tools which Dr. Greig can provide.
Over a six-week period, Dr. Greig will progressively build upon each topic, equipping individuals with empowerment tools. These tools will enable them to effectively initiate and foster conversations, specifically aimed at advocating for the well-being of family, friends, and colleagues.
The core program is as follows:
Talks last about 15-20 minutes and up to 40 minutes with workshops.
The program can be tailored to individual needs.

four webinars are planned for September through to November. These illustrate the focused variation on the core talks asked for by the institution to cater for their needs:
Part 1 – Harmony Within: Exploring the Interplay Between Mind and Body
Description: The presentation "Harmony Within: Exploring the Interplay Between Mind and Body" delves into the intricate connection between mental and physical well-being. It begins by defining the mind-body connection and highlighting its significance, supported by visual diagrams. Factors influencing mind-body health, such as lifestyle choices, stress management, and social support, are discussed alongside visuals illustrating healthy practices. The impact of this connection is explored, emphasizing the effects of stress on physical health and the benefits of positive thinking and happiness. Strategies for achieving harmony within, including mindfulness, meditation, physical activity, and healthy eating, are presented with accompanying images. Real-life case studies showcase individuals who have successfully improved their mind-body health, followed by a conclusion urging the audience to prioritize their well-being. Throughout the presentation the audience will be invited to participate in a poll as the presenter poses questions about perceptions.
The presentation concludes with a Q&A session.
